The meeting was called to order by President Julie Maturo at 12:07pm.

Minutes

Minutes – the minutes were read by Glorianne Campbell and approved with a motion by Sheila Persinger and seconded by Ginny Dushney.

Treasurerʼs Report – Ellie Byrnes reported the current balances in the GGC accounts.

Vice Presidents’ Report– Mary Stavenhagen reported that the members will be making bows at our November meeting, learning some new ideas in bow making and also learning some more tips about bulbs.

Guest Introductions – Julie Maturo invited members to introduce their guests.

Committees

Historians – Ginny Dushney reminded members to get pictures of Garden Club events to her and Annette for keeping our historic records.

Hospitality – Sheila Persinger thanked today’s committee and Linda Stavrou introduced the committee of the day.

Service Projects

  • Geneva Beautification – Chris Shaw reported that fall knuckle clean up will take place at 8:30 on Saturday, November 3. She also raised the question about having greens covering the knuckle during the Holiday Season.
  • Arbor Day – It was reported that $2,500 worth of trees will be planted in Island Park. CASA planters will be done for winter. Assistance would be appreciated on the Living Well Planters.
  • Geneva Garden Club Park – Julie Brown reported that the Geneva Garden Club Park has been cleaned up for the winter.
  • Planters – Chris Shaw reported that the CASA planters will be done for winter. Assistance would be appreciated on the Living Well Planters..

Ways & Means

  • Bulbs – Cathy Rex reported on the bulb shipment and also mentioned the idea of having a plant sale in early June at the time of her annual antique sale (June 6-8).
  • Jane Martin reported on Bows. Sign up sheets were available for the our sale. We will also be selling bows at the Eaglebrook Club bazaar sale on Wednesday, December 4 between 5:30-9:00. Julie Maturo and Kathleen Harrington will be covering that event.

Other Business

  • Mary Garrison will be heading up a committee made up of Margo Mattson, Leslie Harsch, and Emily Rogers to decorate a nine foot Christmas Tree for the Geneva History Center Giving Tree contest. The theme will be to show history and projects of the Garden Club, so pictures, suggestions and items are requested from members.
  • It was announced about the Geneva History Center fund raising event of Craft Beer and Culinary Pairing taking place on October 24.
  • Kathleen Harrington announced about our participation in the Fox Valley Special Recreation Foundation event Northern Nights/Tree Lights taking place on November 22. We will be decorating a tree for auction at that event.

The Raffle was held.
