The meeting was called to order by President Julie Maturo at 12:10.

Minutes

Minutes – the minutes were read by Glorianne Campbell and approved with a motion by Jane Martin and seconded by Deb Hall-Reppen.

Treasurerʼs Report – Ellie Byrnes reported the current balances in the GGC accounts.

Vice Presidents’ Report– Mary Stavenhagen announced that our December program will be presented by Mary Mackenbach making Holiday Arrangements which will then be part of our raffle.

Guest Introductions – Julie Maturo invited members to introduce their guests.

Committees

Always on Tuesday – Kathy Wengronowitz explained these events as well as to ask members to contact her with dates they would like to share their garden next summer.

Hospitality – Jane Martin welcomed everyone who attended for this “working” bow meeting. She then introduced Chris Shaw as chair for the hostess committee for today, who in turn introduced her committee.

Membership – Kristie Dienst had Membership Application Forms available, as we had a number of individuals who have attended several meetings and now would be eligible for membership.

Service Projects

  • Geneva Beautification – Chris Shaw reported that the knuckle was cleaned up last Saturday and we have received permission from the City to cover the area with greens and pine cones for the Holiday Season. (If anyone has greens and/or pinecones to donate, please contact Chris.)
  • Geneva Garden Club Park and Japanese Garden – both of these gardens are “put to bed” for the winter.
  • Planters –  Chris plans to complete this as well as the CASA, History Center, and Living Well Planters on Tuesday and Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving. Volunteers are needed for these projects.
  • Scholarship – Karen Bielski said that every thing is ready to go forward once the application is up on the website.

Ways & Means

  • Cathy Rex and Sue Woltman reported that bulbs are for sale today, as well as Cathy still has quite a supply at home. We, of course, will also be selling these at the Eagle Brook Holiday Shopping Night on December 4 and at the Christmas Walk. Ruthie Collard took a number of bulbs to the Pottowatomie Garden Club were a number were sold.
  • Jane Martin had asign up sheet for Bow Sales during the Christmas Walk.

Other Business

  • History Center Tree decorating was reported on by Mary Garrison. Mary appreciated members contributions and passed around one example of an ornament made for the tree. Kathleen Harrington reported on the tree decorating for the Fox Valley Special Recreation Foundation. Glorianne Campbell informed members that there are still openings for decorating a table for the History Center Creche luncheons on either Thursday, December 12 or Saturday, December 14.
  • Jessica Dean shared some information on work in her garden by Jay Hollinger, a two time scholarship winner from the Garden Club, as did Gail Ellenbaum, who has also benefited from Jay’s expertise.
